From LA to Manila: Pink's Hotdogs and Chilli

We were looking for a place still open at 12:30 am on a Monday morning when our cousin found Pink's Hotdogs and Chilli. Mr. C got excited because he already has heard of this place. It's that one famous hot dog chain that started out as a food cart in Los Angeles. Today, its fame has stretched across Hollywood celebrities where the pictures of them holding their hotdog buns are hanging on their restaurant's wall. They have also been featured in some shows.

They practice self-service and this is where to order the food.

There's another attraction in the restaurant which is this van where you can order ice cream!
Their ice cream menu displayed in the van
IT'S CHOWTIME!

BUFFALO WING DOG REGULAR (PHP 250)

They got me at crispy chicken skin so this is what I ordered. However, after having three bites, I gave up and exchanged my order with Mr. C's. The chicken skin, spicy sauce, and blue cheese is not a good combination. Mr. C liked this, though.

THE HOLLYWOOD LEGEND REGULAR (PHP 280)

Look at that abundant amount of cheddar cheese! And do you see where the star of this meal is lying on? It's Pink's famous chili! Great combination! I totally concede. Mr. C's order is way better than mine.

BREAKFAST REGULAR (PHP 250)

Perhaps I prefer simpler dishes so this order from my sister-in-law is, I can say, the winner of them all. It consists of your typical breakfast ingredients: bacon, cheddar cheese, egg. I can bet that for those afraid to experiment with their pallet, this is the safest order.

DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS REGULAR (PHP 250)

Upon serving this big guy, I had this 'aha' moment why it was called as such. It looked so big
you wanted to call its name with the lowest voice. Another complement to its name is its pungent flavor. The overflowing toppings that you see are onion rings.

HOMEMADE FRENCH FRIES (PHP 140)

Break your routine of eating fast food french fries by having natural french fries.

MILK SHAKE (PHP 250)

For the milk shake flavor, you can choose any flavors from their ice cream. It is thick, creamy and flavorful!

Time for desserts, yay! Yes, we were not able to resist ourselves from ordering from the blue ice cream van! I ordered hazelnut and Mr. C went for cookie dough. A single scoop costs PHP 150.

ORDER WARS
Admittedly, Mr. C won. Their hotdog and famous chili go well with each other.

WHAT WE LIKED:
  • Excellent Customer Service:
    • I researched that they're only open until 12:00 noon but they still accommodated us.
    • The staff at the ice cream section willingly offered us to try almost all of their flavors. He's smiling and very patient too.
    • The waiters are very alert in refilling our glasses of water.
  • The interesting interior design, especially the ice cream van.
WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE:
  • The food is not value for money. We felt that paying 250php for a hotdog bun was too much.

WANNA-CHOW-AGAIN  METER
The food was great, a must-try for hotdog lovers. However, we find their hotdog with buns pricey for their quality. This is only "OK. BEEN HERE." for us.
