My sister-in-law was curious about this pub so we roamed the streets of BGC one night to dine here. It is a restaurant owned by some public figures and because of its celebrity connections, it apparently became a hide-out place by famous celebrities. We did not spot some celebrities during our stay, though.
Entering the restaurant has that 'chillax' vibe - music not too loud, cozy seats and laid back people.
One thing I like about this restaurant: their food menu has pictures, perfect for visual people like us.
IT'S CHOWTIME!
SALTED CARAMEL (PHP 110), LEFT AND CERVEZA '43 (PHP 150), RIGHT
I tasted a better caramel beer, the one with stronger caramel flavor. This one only has a mild caramel taste in it. Mr. C's order, the cervez, is bitter-sweet. This is good for those beer drinkers who want their mug of beer only slightly flavored.
SEVEN DWARFS JELLO SHOTS (PHP 810)
This one is a deceiver. You would think that these colorful little shot glasses are harmless but it is one Tipsy Pig's specialty that will definitely make you tipsy. I was able to drink two shots of them and I already felt a bit sleepy a few minutes after. The liquid at the top tastes like Sprite and the tequila jello tastes like Jelly Ace but as you bite further, it will give you that acrid after-effect.
DIRTY SALTED CARAMEL MARTINI (225)
This fancy martini is a mix of kahlua, absolut vanilla mixed and salted caramel. At first, it tastes almost chocolatey and sweetish, but since I'm a sucker for sweet cocktails that almost tastes like juice, I wasn't impressed by this one.
BEER CAN CHICKEN (PHP 810)
The chicken doesn't look as big as it is on the menu. Since it is really hard to carve this, you can request for assistance. The chicken has that taste of rosemary and is delicious at your first few bites. However, you wouldn't enjoy it as much as you go along.
This is my favorite! You don't need to dip it into the tangy sauce for it to taste good because the sisig itself already does. It is not too spicy nor too salty. To enjoy it to the fullest, drizzle it with calamansi, wrap it in the taco and put a little sauce on it.
A closer look at the sisig...
WHAT WE LIKED:
- The visual menu!
- The ambience
- The sisig tacos
- The waiters didn't offer water or extra utensils!
- The food was not served hot.
- The price was too expensive.
- The receipt was not itemized! I had to take note of the names of what we ordered before we left.
WANNA-CHOW-AGAIN METER
We have to admit that we didn't enjoy our dining experience here. The expensive menus were not compensated by the food quality and customer service. We're adding it to our "Never Again" list.
