After a few hours of bathing and lounging by the beach, we traversed the shore until we reached Microtel Inn, the hotel where Mama's Fish House is tucked in.
It was an early lunch and lean season so this was the scene that welcomed us inside the place. Right. We were the only ones who ate there that morning.
We admit that we're not expecting the price to be this sort of high. However, upon seeing the size of their servings, it's seemed fair. See the pics below.
LEMON PEPPER MAHI MAHI (PHP 420)
Since mahi-mahi is a haven't heard, my curiosity kicked in and went ahead with getting this dish.
Honestly, I regretted having ordered this. I should have researched for more recommendable options rather than this dish. It's sour flavor almost tasted like paksiw, the recipe that I never liked. The fish is OK. It's meaty but not rough. Another off thing about it is that it's bombarded with onions. There are mangoes in it but its taste is still overpowered by the tart aura of lemon and tomatoes.
CHICKEN NASI GORENG DINIWID FRIED RICE (PHP 290)
Their Nasi Goreng is yummy! It's a combination of toge, carrots, rice, green peas, corn, string beans and chunks of chicken. The fried egg is the perfect topper. Because I liked it so much, Mr. C was kind enough to leave a quarter of it for me.
The atsara is only mild. My aunt's cook still makes the better atsara, I told Mr. C.
ORDER WARS
Mr. C's Nasi Goreng effortlessly took over the Order Wars. I should have researched for a better option!
WHAT WE LIKED:
- I liked the interiors! It looks like a Hawaiian restaurant because of these: the mural designs, the chairs, tables and menu covers are woven and the high ceiling.
- Oh, the nasi goreng is a must-try!
- Obviously, I didn't like the mahi-mahi.
- The restaurant has a service charge but the service itself is mediocre, given that we are their only customers that morning. They didn't recommend dishes, were poker-faced and not proactive in refilling the water glasses.
Because of our not so pleasant experience, we're rating this as "Never Again". Were we to go back to Diniwid Beach, it would be for the other restaurants around that area.
