We had a hard time deciding which group meal to choose so each of us ended up with our individual selections.
Even our little one couldn't decide. |
Our crowded table, shoulda opted for the Group Meal for 10, lol! |
IT'S CHOWTIME!
Let's take a look at each dish. Sorry for the blurred pictures, Mr. C was already trembling due to starvation. :P
ENSALADANG MANGGA FIESTA (PHP 95)
Good addition to your seafood bite. A little bit pricey knowing that it's only chopped mangoes and tomatoes. They make good bagoong, though!
PINEAPPLE SHRIMP RICE (PHP 215)
I was already reducing my rice intake (diet-dietan) but it got ruined by their delicious Pineapple rice. Both a butter fan, Mr. C and I were rejoicing how rich the buttery taste is. Complementing to that taste are the pineapple bits, resulting in its semi-sweet quality. Plus, the savory ingredients which shrimp, diced carrots and chopped onion chives. Mr. C and I vote for this meal as the best order we had in this restaurant.
GRILLED TUNA PANGA, medium (PHP 305)
Mr. C said that their version was better than what we had in Hoy, Panga! because it was simpler. I disagree with him, though.
TUNA AND CRAB MEAT SISIG (PHP 250)
Tuna and crabmeat in sisig form? How will that turn out? Well, it turned out to be disappointing. The sisig was not served sizzling like it should be, knowing that it was categorized on their "Hot Plate" menu. It only consists of their flaky crab meat, tuna bits, and some spices. Overall, it's just a lukewarm, salty recipe with a bitter aftertaste probably due to the tuna bits. Totally no chemistry between the tuna and crab meat as sisig ingredients.
JUNIOR CRAB BY THE BUCKET *SALTED EGG (PHP 810)
What else should we add to our seafood feast but crab! Stuffed with sliced salted eggs inside, its saltiness went well with the sea taste of the crab. Of course, it was Mr. C who took out the crab meat again. Hihi.
PANCIT ESPESYAL CON LECHON KAWALI (PHP 275)
It is your typical pancit bihon topped with tasty lechon kawali fragments. Best to combine each bite with the lechon kawali piece.
SEAFOOD KARE-KARE (PHP 365)
The classic kare-kare with its thick sauce that is rich in peanut butter, only with seafood goodies as the main ingredients. I like how the squid is cooked - soft and chewy! Its partner in action - Seafood Island's yummy bagoong - is seasoned like how it would taste to its finest when partnered with the kare-kare sauce.
MANGO MARGARITA (PHP 95)
Terrible. Plain harsh to the tongue and brain. I was hoping for a semi-sweet, semi-sour mixed with the mango component but all it brought was acridity. I didn't make it to the third sip!
GREEN MANGO SHAKE (PHP 105)
Good thing there's Mr. C's green mango shake to rescue me from the horror that is the mango margarita. Now I understand why the shake costs higher than the cocktail, hmm.
WHAT WE LIKED:
- We loved the pineapple rice and seafood kare-kare - highly recommended!
- There's no service charge (there's a downside to this, though).
- It's a bit hot inside. The aircon is only mild and the electric fans were limited.
- The place is dim.
- Knowing that they're a seafood place and things can get messy, they don't have reserved tissues for each table.
- Just like what I mentioned earlier, a downside to the "No Service Charge" policy is poor customer service: they're not attentive in getting empty plates (oh, just see how crowded our table was!) and not proactive in refilling our glasses with water.
- Oh please don't dare get that cocktail!
WANNA-CHOW-AGAIN METER
Other seafood places, please? Or maybe take us to the beach? Nope, never again.
