Malen's Restaurant: Cavite's Hidden Gem of Native Marvels

Established in 1994, Malen's has proven its influence but still remains as one of Cavite's hidden gems because of its outlying location in Noveleta, Cavite. The reputation that it has gained not just in the food and catering services but also the architectural aspect cannot be overlooked.

With all the decorations featuring old relics such as newspapers, photos, artifacts, military keepsakes, etc., the interiors of the restaurant will bring you that museum vibe.

The exquisite ceiling of the dining area

The atmosphere of the dining area created by Malen's takes you back to the Spanish era, embodying  the high ceiling, wooden substance and vintage adornments.

IT'S CHOWTIME!

One pleasing aspect of dining in Malen's is their free, warm, homemade bread coupled with salty butter. Any starving guests will put this bowl a smile to their faces.

APPLE GRAPES SHAKE (PHP 90)

Their drinks are not limited to the usual choices. They offer fresh fruit shakes, too. In this particular shake, you can really justify that they used natural ingredients because of the apple and grape bits.

BUKO JUICE (PHP 65)

Buko juice sipped from the fruit is available too!

PUMPKIN SOUP (PHP 90)

The soup's consistency is thick but the pumpkin taste is dull.

US BEEF STEAK (PHP 365)

Mr. C's steak cravings was satisfied by this affordable but good US beef steak offered by Malen's. The meat is tender enough. Its tastiness is intensified by the savory sauce. Mr. C liked the mashed potatoes too! It's finely mashed and chunky.

GAMBAS (PHP 228)

My order. What I liked about this dish is that the shrimps are already peeled. It has that kick of spiciness but what dominates is the saltiness which doesn't leave a good impression to the palate.

DINUGUAN (PHP 148)

I liked their version of dinuguan. It has a thick sauce (one thing that Mr. C found weird), soft meat chunks and a slightly sour taste.

KILAWING TALABA AT ISDA (PHP 218)

The four of us (me, Mr. C, my cousin-in-law & mother-in-law) enjoyed their kilawin so much. The piquancy brought by the kilawin is addicting. The oyster and tanigue makes a good couple. If only we didn't have a bad history of oyster poisoning, I could have eaten them all!

ORDER WARS
Mr. C didn't go wrong with the steak. The gambas turned out to be our least favorite dish in this batch. Mr. C owns this round!

WANNA-CHOW-AGAIN METER
Malen's definitely gives that impression of keeping us from wanting more every time we go there. Even if they only offer Filipino food, they still possess the undeniable power to impress. We'll definitely go back, or will you be so kind to take us back here? :)
